Single Storey Extension LEWISHAM
This small single storey extension in Lewisham was commissioned by our client to create a larger kitchen dining space. The existing property is a charming terraced house with a difficult kitchen layout and a very small rear garden.
Our response to the brief was to design an extension that connects with the outdoors by extending not only the space but the views out to the garden. The small size of the extension aims to ensure that its relationship with the garden was retained, whilst the use of cedar cladding to the exterior meant that we can create a softer, more natural appearance for the extension.
The design approach to the internal space concentrates on achieving the most efficient layout, creating a beautiful, bright space for cooking and socialising all at once. The large set of bi-fold doors and a 3m long fixed roof light ensure that the new kitchen/dinning space is flooded with day light.
The interior also combines modern-minimalist approach with a touch of industrial. Through the use of pristine white walls and exposed steel beams which work well with the graphite grey finish of the kitchen units, this small extension transformed the existing into a modern and quirky space.
