Extension & Loft Conversion East Finchley

This extension and loft conversion project is located in the affluent area of East Finchley. The property is a semi-detached house part of Hampstead Heath Conservation Area. Although the property is in need of repair and modernisation, the existing Crittall style windows were something that we wanted to retain as part of the new modern design. The proposed design involved modifying the existing ground floor layout to achieve an open plan kitchen- dining space and although the proposed single storey extension was modest in size, we achieved a rather spacious addition to the property.

The team was keen to design something that was modern in terms of using the space as a social/get together space whilst retaining some of the original design features such as the Crittall windows. The proposal included replacement Crittall windows and door to the generous rear garden, flooding the extension with natural light and character.

The interior design of the space were inspired by the client’s preference for wood finishes, which are also present in the design of the loft space of the house. Ultra modern kitchen unit with fully integrated appliances and marble accents made the new kitchen-dining space contemporary yet charming.

Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust has already approved the design for the extension and loft conversion. The project is currently awaiting approval from the local council.
